Pavlyk Motychka, who was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), was born in September 2019 in the village of Synevyr, Zakarpattia region.

Spinal Muscle Atrophy is a very rare neuromuscular disease that is accompanied by loss of motoneurons and progressive muscle atrophy leading to early death. The child cannot sit, move, walk, and in the worst cases swallow and breathe.

There is one injection in the world that will help save Pavlik and which is given once in a lifetime, its name is Zolgensma. Zolgensma is the most expensive drug in the world its price $ 2,300,000. This injection should be given before the age of 2 and the child should weigh no more then 14 kg. Pavlyk is now 1.8 years old and 11.5 kg. His family lost their eldest son to the same disease a few years ago. Pavlyk has SMA type 1, which is the heaviest of all 4 types.
